Enhancing sustainable rural livelihoods through innovative participatory approaches to afforestation
We are implementing the above named project with support from by Biovision (http://www.biovision.ch/en/home/). The purpose of the project is to increase tree planting for improved access to tree products for healthy livelihoods and for maintaining environmental stability. In the first 6 months of the project we have established and facilitated three tree planting groups and three nursery gardens, and conducted two trainings per group (making a total of 6 trainings). The trainings covered themes of tree propagation, livelihood skills and group dynamics. Knowledge was transferred to famers in the participating groups and also shared by farmers to farmers outside the group. We have facilitated the propagation of 6647 seedlings of different species. We have also produced and given out project T-shirts to group members.
